Rawhara, n. Sail for a canoe. Ka whakaarahia te whakawhiti rawhara (M.M. 185). Me he rawhara te turakina ki te moana hei tauranga waka (M. ci). In the Easy Cape district the word is used only of a sail of fine dressed flax ornamented with puhi kereru and anga pipi, reserved for the use of a chief, and used by him as a pillow when on shore. ‖ rā (i).
