Tārai (i), tārei, taratarai, v.t. Dress, shape, fashion, particularly of working timber with an adze. Te maunga atu ki te toki ka tarai ano i te waka ra (T. 51). Te wahine nana i hari mai te wai pounamu hei taratarai atu i te poupou.—Ka taraia te kaheru (T. 7). He kowhatu topuku tonu, he mea tarei ki te kiripaka. Used of dressing the hair.
